Dr Karelle De Luca is the Head of Research & Development at the Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicine (GALVmed), a role she has held since September 2023. In this position, she leads a team focused on promoting product innovation and developing high-impact health interventions, such as vaccines and diagnostics, for small-scale livestock producers in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
She holds a PhD in Immunology from INSERM in Lyon, France (2006) and recently completed an Executive MBA from EM Lyon Business School (2024). Her professional background includes over 15 years in animal health leadership, notably serving as the Head of Immunology and Antigen Design at Boehringer Ingelheim and holding senior research management roles at Merial and Sanofi Pasteur. Outside of her professional work, she serves as the President of Sevenne Natation, a swimming club in France.
